The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) is an entrance examination for admission to various undergraduate courses in engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture in the state of Maharashtra, India.

  1. Purpose: MHT-CET is used for admission to engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture courses in colleges across Maharashtra.

  2. Conducting Body: The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, administers the MHT-CET exam.

  3. Frequency: The exam is held once a year, usually in May.

  4. Mode: MHT-CET is a computer-based test (CBT).

  5. Subjects:

    • Engineering: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

    • Pharmacy: Physics, Chemistry, and either Biology or Mathematics.

  6. Structure: The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) divided into two papers:

    • Paper I: Mathematics (50 questions)

    • Paper II: Physics (50 questions) and Chemistry (50 questions)

    • Paper III: Biology (Botany - 50 questions, Zoology - 50 questions) for pharmacy candidates who choose Biology instead of Mathematics.

  7. Scoring:

    • Mathematics: Each correct answer carries 2 marks.

    • Biology, Physics and Chemistry: Each correct answer carries 1 mark.

    • There is no negative marking.

  8. Eligibility: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 education or be appearing for it with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as their main subjects. They must meet the domicile criteria of Maharashtra.

  9. Application: Candidates need to apply online through the official State CET Cell, Maharashtra website.

  10. Importance: MHT-CET is crucial for securing admission to engineering and pharmacy colleges in Maharashtra, making it a competitive exam.
