The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is a standardised test in India for admission to various undergraduate engineering programs.

  1. Purpose: JEE Main is the entrance exam for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs). It is also the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

  2. Conducting Body: The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the JEE Main exam.

  3. Frequency: The exam is held twice a year, usually in January and April.

  4. Mode: JEE Main is a computer-based test (CBT).

  5. Subjects: The exam covers three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

  6. Structure: It consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical value questions.

  7. Eligibility: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 education or be appearing for it with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their main subjects.

  8. Scoring: The exam is scored on a scale of 0 to 300, with each subject carrying equal weight. There are both positive marks for correct answers and negative marks for incorrect answers.

  9. Application: Candidates need to apply online through the official NTA JEE Main website.

  10. Importance: The exam is highly competitive, with over a million students appearing each year. High scores are essential for securing admission to prestigious engineering colleges.
